Lidl Foots Cray

Design and Layout

The proposal is to provide a new mixed use development on the existing Lidl site and the adjoining warehouse site. These buildings will be demolished to construct  a new foodstore to the rear of the site and a two storey office block fronting on to Foots Cray High Street. All external areas will be resurfaced with both soft and hard landscaping. The proposed store has a GIA of 2,177m². The store has a sales area of 1,408m² and 769m² of ancillary space.

Both vehicular and customer access are off Foots Cray High Street with the foodstore car park wrapping along the side and front of the store. Delivery vehicles will utilise the same access point, drive in to the site in forward gear and reverse into the loading bay which is located on the north elevation of the building. All store waste will be collected at the same time as deliveries, thereby minimising daily HGV movements in and out of the site.

The customer car park will provide 105 car parking spaces including 7 disabled spaces and 7 parent and child spaces in close proximity to the store entrance. An additional 14 parking spaces will be provide for the office units. Over 60 long and short stay bicycle parking spaces will be provided close to the store entrance serving both the retail store and the offices. The customer entrance to the store will face Foots Cray High Street and facilitate easy access for those walking from Foots Cray High Street, travelling by bicycle, car or bus to the store.
